  • One of the biggest cargo air companies in Europe – “Cargo Lux” started carrying out the regular flights to Georgia. Company will accomplish cargo flights Luxemburg-Tbilisi-Baku, once a week with Boeing 747.   

10.08.2008 - The Airport continues its operations regardless

  • Tbilisi International Airport’s operations  have  not being  interrupted despite the War in Georgia and  Airport have not closed.Some of the Air companies cancelled scheduled flights because of the threat of air attack, but some continues to accomplish flights regardless.In this hard situation, Tbilisi International Airport operates 24 hours without any problems.  

01.08.2008 - TAV Georgia, operator of Tbilisi International Airport, met its “one-millionth passenger”.

  • TAV Georgia met and celebrated its “one-millionth passenger” at arrival in new passenger terminal.
    One millionth passenger of Tbilisi International Airport was 27 years old Karina Arutinian, arrived  by Lufthansa air company, flying from Munich to Tbilisi. As “one-millionth passenger”, she was met with warm greetings, flowers and special gift from TAV Georgia.

11.07.2008 - TAV Georgia has registered its success by ISO

  • TAV Georgia received ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management certificates.
    Certificates confirm the effectiveness and successful implementation of the Quality Management System and Environment Management System in all the activities of TAV Georgia and also that they meet the requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 standards.

24.06.2008

  • On June 19, 2008 Georgian National Airlines launched the scheduled flights to Vnukovo International Airport from Tbilisi. The flights will be operated on DC-9 three times a week. The flights from Moscow are scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In addition to Tbilisi flights Georgian National Airlines operates the charter service from Kutaisi at Vnukovo International Airport. In July 2008, the company is going to open the air service from Batumi. Another Georgian air carrier, Georgian Airways, connects Vnukovo and Batumi. The flights are operated on Sundays on CRJ-100

  • On 30 of May Czech Airlines will start regular flights from Tbilisi to Heraklion in Crete.
  • On 26 of April, 2008, 09:20 (UTS) the world's biggest airliner An-224 Mriya of Antonov Airlines had landed in Tbilisi International Airport.

  • On 24 April, Czech Airlines connected Prague with the Georgian metropolis of Tbilisi.  Czech Airlines will offer the Tbilisi flight three times a week.  Departure times will suit businessmen on their business travels from Western Europe to Georgia, as well as Georgian tourists headed to the Czech Republic.  Czech Airlines also started flaying to Strasbourg, France and Rostov-on-Don, Russia and from 30 April will start flying to Damascus in Syria.

  • The resumption of flights between Tbilisi and St. Petersburg is scheduled by the Georgian Air Company Airzena-Georgian Airlines for early May of this year, representatives of the Georgian air company announced. Airzena plans to make two flights a week between Tbilisi and St. Petersburg.
  • A plane of the Russian Air Company Rossiya  will  fly on the route to St. Petersburg from late April, 2008, performing TbilisiSt. PetersburgTbilisi flights on Mondays.

  • flyLAL Lithuanian Airlines, the national carrier of the Republic of Lithuania. From now offering customers direct return flights on the Tbilisi-Vilnius-Tbilisi route which will be performed on a regular basis twice a week. flyLAL operates domestic and international scheduled services from Vilnius and Palanga to 20 destinations. A number of code-share partners allows the airline to offer passengers convenient connections between Vilnius and over 200 cities around the world.
