What is SMS?

Safety management system is a management system that enables us to define hazards occurring during our activities, calculate the risks, reduce these risks to an acceptable level by implementing necessary improvement work, and constantly monitor and improve the safety performance. The SMS requirements that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) introduced to the entire aviation sector with its Safety Management System Manual 9859-AN/474, were compiled under one document (Annex-19) which came into effect in 2013.

On a national scale; establishing and implementing an SMS became a legal requirement for organizations following the regulation of Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.
